Well, there was one time when for a brief, fleeting moment, I nearly bought into the idea that God had it out for me – and that this string of negative events that came totally by surprise was His way of sending a message to me…
And He was telling me that something worse was on its way.
It wasn’t until when God’s truths came flooding back to me that things began to come into perspective once again.
The daughter of God rests in her CONFIDENCE in her Father and even though she isn’t sure what might come next, she rests assured by the many PROMISES that her Father has SPOKEN.
Even though sometimes things don’t seem to go right – and even though sometimes multiple things don’t go our way, this doesn’t mean that God has abandoned you or that He is just waving about His sovereignty over your head just for the fun of it like a cruel puppet master. But seriously! Imagine if the world was actually a puppet stage! How weird would that be!

Trusting God in Hard Times Truth #1: He Never Wants to Withhold What is Good for You
” For I know the plans I have for you ” declares the Lord, ” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future “.
— Jeremiah 29:11
Finding God during a difficult season of life means remembering that God never wants to hurt us or to deliberately make us suffer for the fun of it, but one of the biggest misconceptions of this verse is that some people are led to believe that to be His children means to have a life where we live free of trials and tribulations. However, what He truly means via this verse isn’t to provide us with a security blanket where we make ourselves feel better by patching up the wounds with the false hope that He will take away our suffering, but by true confidence in Him that He will give us hope in the midst of it all.

Dear Lord our Heavenly Father! Thank you for being our beacon of hope in a world that has so much darkness in it. Thank you for pouring us with truth that reminds us that you will always provide us with a way that works in your glory!

Who or what is your most beloved? Can you imagine sacrificing them just to save a world of people who a) didn’t deserve it and b) even hated you for it? It might be so incredibly difficult for us to think of doing something like this for those who reject us and ridicule us, but our God is so good! He didn’t even hesitate to give what He loved most in order to save us. There wasn’t a single moment where He thought about withholding what was good for us just to satisfy His own desires because He loves us so!
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for giving up whom you loved most to save me from my sins. In no way shape or form did I deserve such a sacrifice, but thank you for loving me enough to believe that I was worth it. I pray that I will always be able to remember how good you are to me and how selfless your love for me truly is!
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 4:19
Our Heavenly Creator didn’t create us just to keep us separate from everything good He has to offer! With our sins running rampant, and our hearts as cold as stone, our God helps us to meet all of our needs according to the riches of His glory in Jesus Christ! Our needs are met with His great sacrifice – giving up His perfect, beloved son. And so, with such a selfless act, how could we ever doubt that He will withhold something that is good for us? BUT what is good for us also comes down to perspective! He is a God that sees all and knows all. So who are we to doubt the One who always has our best interest at heart?
Prayer:
Dear God, you know all and you see all. You know the depths of my heart, you know the good, the bad, the pain and everything else in between. Please give me the strength to trust that all that you do, you do for your good purpose, even if I do not can’t see what it is!

Trusting God in Hard Times Truth #2: He Will Never Leave You to Fight a Battle Alone
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
— Exodus 14:14
One of the biggest LIES the devil can feed you is that you are in this alone. If you are dealing with sin, the devil will convince you that you are alone through shaming you, guilting you and making you run away from the only One who can deliver you from all those things.
Like Adam and Eve, sin can make you run away from God. But be like David where He ran towards God and asked Him to make him white as snow again. If you are dealing with challenges, the enemy will convince you that you are in this alone – that nobody else understands, or that they will judge you, condemn you or that you are a burden. But regardless of what the world says or does, you can rest easy on this verse knowing that our sweet Father will fight for you and all you have to do let go of control and trust in Him!

Prayer:
Dear God, please guide me to do what I can do, and allow me to trust you in the rest for what I can not do!
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose”
— Romans 8:28
God is on your side. He doesn’t work against you! Rest in the truth of what you mean to our Father and know how much He loves you! The beautiful truth of Romans 8:28 reminds us that even though sin and Satan are powerful, God is more powerful!
He is able to redeem and restore even the darkest of things for the good of His people and for His glory. Even though not all things are good, God can and will still use all things for His good purpose! So, in those moments where you feel alone, remember this massive promise He has specifically for His believers – He will work for the good of you.
Nothing can cause you to fall away within the walls of this promise! Outside of this promise, everything can cause devastation, anxiety and confusion, but the unshakeable promise of Romans 8:28 brings into the life of all believers stability and freedom!
Prayer:
Dear Lord, you are so powerful and you rule with me in mind. Please continue to remind me that when I am within the strongholds of your promise that I will not be shaken and that I am not alone so that I may place my faith in you alone to conquer all.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:6-7
One of the most popular Bible verses out there, this verse touches so many hearts in so many ways. With this beautiful instruction given by God to His children, He promises that He will be there to protect your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ in any situation when you just bring all things to Him through prayer and praise! How amazing is that? This promise gives reassurance to all of His believers that He will not leave us to suffer alone and that He will come to fight with us and for us!

Dear Lord, thank you for this beautiful promise that I don’t deserve. Thank you for guarding my heart and my mind in every situation. I pray that I will continue to rest and grow in my confidence and faith in your good promise!

Trusting God in Hard Times Truth #3: He Will Provide You with the Necessary Tools and Skills to Overcome Challenges
“Hegives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
— Isaiah 40:29
This verse goes perfectly with 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.In our weakness, our God gives us the greatest tool of all – faith in Him. When we have true, unshakeable faith in our Heavenly Creator, we rest with the knowledge that His loving grace will be the constant reminder that the crosses that we have to bear is just the crown of the victory that we have already won!

Prayer:
Dear Lord, no matter how hard I try, I will never truly be strong. I pray that I will always try finding you in a difficult season of life. This is because with you staying by side in my weakest moments, you have given me the greatest gift of all – allowing me to truly experience your strength. You are the only one that can make me strong when I am struggling and you are the only one who can deliver me from my battles.

This is one of the earliest verses that I remember that really made an impact on me 🙂 Trust is one of the hardest things in the world. With so much betrayal, hurt and rejection, we tend to close ourselves up and are so careful about letting other people in. But openness, faith, undivided trust and our complete vulnerability is exactly what God demands! When we place our full and complete faith in our Father, He will give you the necessary tools and skills to straighten your paths and lead you to Him in any given situation!
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I come to you with my head bowed down. I have so often tried to do things my own way because I had difficulty trusting that you truly had my best interests at heart. But now I humbly turn to you and with both hands present myself in all it’s entirety to you!
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
— Ephesians 3:16-19
How BEAUTIFUL is this passage? Like really! When we have faith in our Heavenly Creator, God presents us with the most powerful gift ever to walk the earth – Jesus! HOW GOOD! His love which is so deep and so wide that it is completely incomprehensible to us, is our source of power because with His love dwelling in our very being, we will be able to experience the security and the promise of God! So when we feel like we are facing situations that we just can not overcome, what better tool can we ask for than the fullness of God?
Prayer:
HOW GOOD are you God? Thank you for showering me with a love so deep and so wide that I will never be able to truly understand. I pray that in those moments when I do not know what to do and that I feel like I am engaging in a situation that I cannot win that I will be reminded that your love will establish and strengthen me when I place my faith in you!

Trusting God in Hard Times Truth #4: God is Our Source of Strength
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31
There is nothing like Isaiah when you need a little pick-me-up when you are down in the dumps! How amazing is it to imagine that when we our hearts feel weak and we feel like giving up, that when we place our hope in our Creator that we will be made new again? When we believe in Him, our spirits will be renewed and we will rest easy knowing that God is the spring from which we draw our strength! Finding God in a difficult season of life is made easy when we remember that our strength comes from the One who created us!
Dear Lord, when I am going through this season of challenges, I thank you for allowing me to draw from your strength so that I can overcome anything!
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
— Isaiah 41:10
This is one beautiful promise! This is God telling us and reassuring us that we should never fear, never feel dismayed, never feel lonely or alone for He is OUR God! He will uphold us and strengthen us and fight for us! He will be the source of our strength for our strength alone will never be enough – we need only to have faith in Him!
Prayer:
God, you are the everlasting spring from which I draw my strength from. I can rest easy knowing that this source will never run out and that no matter what challenges I am going through, you will be the unshakeable force in my life that will bring me peace and true freedom! 🙂

Trusting God in Hard Times Truth #5: He Will Never Give You an ‘Impossible’ Challenge Because He Will Help You Overcome Anything
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
— Isaiah 43:2
What is it with Isaiah?! So many hidden gems in this one! This last Biblical truth on finding God in a difficult season of life is a great one!
Now, we are promised that no matter what situation we are in, no matter what challenges come our way, they will not overcome us. With God protecting us and guarding us, even if we walked through a burning fire, not a hair on our head will be damaged for He works to take care of us in every circumstance! So even though it might feel like too much to handle, nothing has the power to take over you when you have Him by your side!

Thank you Lord for being the BEST TEAM LEADER ever! I pray that I can walk through any challenge with confidence and joy knowing that you are right there with me, protecting me and guarding me. No matter what comes my way, I rest in faith knowing that NOTHING has the power over me with you ahead of me in all that I do!

If the season of challenge that you are facing at the moment involves temptations of some kind, know that He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. However, the one misconception so many people have is that they get so confused when they can’t understand why they are struggling so much with the sins that they are facing if God won’t allow them to be tempted beyond what they can bear. This is when we have to look to biblical truth 🙂 no matter what tempts us, or what sins taunt us, He will provide us with a way out! His grace will be sufficient, his strength will uphold us and his son Jesus Christ will save us! This way, no matter what temptations we face, we have the ability to turn away from it!
Prayer:
Dear God, there is so much brokenness in the world – and I come to you with so many broken and jagged pieces. I pray to you in genuine repentance to forgive me for the endless number of times that I have fallen from your grace. My head is bowed and my heart is humbled as I come to you praying that you will feed truths into my heart and give me the strength to resist the temptations of this world and deliver me from my sins.
