In an Instagram perfect world, we only ever want to show the world the most beautiful, admirable side of ourselves… and even the ‘not-so-great’ parts of our lives that we choose to share are usually carefully vetted and chosen. After all, we have to share ‘faults’ and ‘struggles’ that make us relatable, but never at the expense of our reputation! 😉 So we often don’t really do a great job of preparing believers that the Christian walk is often fraught with difficulty. More often than not, we are led to believe that God doesn’t give us more than we can handle, but the truth is, He does. BUTTTTT, the great comfort comes with this… God will provide everything we need.
How beautifullyamazing!
So shouldn’t we rejoice in sharing our more difficult moments with one another? Even the ones that make us want to dive under the covers or melt into a puddle! After all, it is our difficulties and struggles that make for one of the best ways to showcase God’s glory. So doesn’t it make sense to glorify Him by openly sharing with others what we are going through so that others can be encouraged that even though the Christian walk will have struggles, you have a God who will provide for all of your needs?
But sweet, sweet friend, I see you. I understand.
Sometimes, when we are struck with one of life’s curveballs, all we want to do is cry in a corner somewhere. We want someone to give us a hug and listen to us cry. There is nothing we want more than to know that everything will be ok. We feel alone, lost and afraid.
And let me be that friend today who will give you a hug and listen to you cry. There is nothing I want more than to tell you that you are not alone and that you don’t have to be afraid because you have a Father who never fails to provide.

God Will Provide All Your Needs, Not Your Wants
I once remember reading this story told by Elisabeth Elliot, famed authoress, missionary and wife of martyr Jim Elliot.
Elisabeth spoke of this beautiful and attractive girl who was living in her house. This woman had just came home from a date and wanted to talk to her. Sitting down on the end of her bed, she told Elisabeth of her eagerness to marry a handsome and wealthy man. However, the man she had just been out with was not that. He was nice enough — a Christian, handsome, interesting, “really neat,” but not wealthy.
Elisabeth then asked this woman, “What do you want more than anything else in life? God’s choices or your own?”
“God’s choices of course!” The girl had replied.
“What if He should choose for you a man who was poor and homely?” Elisabeth asked.
“But He wouldn’t!”
“Why not?”
“Because He loves me.”
“I see. Then He will give the poor and homely man only to a woman He doesn’t love?”
The girl’s blue eyes filled with tears. “Doesn’t He want me to be happy?”
“He wants you most to be holy.”
Far too often, we are exactly like this girl. We pray to God to provide for us, but we have expect things to be a very specific way. We pray to God to provide for our wants and not for our needs. So we need to sombrely reflect on what God desires to provide for us…. and that is our daily spiritual and basic earthly needs.
God wants us to recognise the difference between our needs and our wants because He knows that where our treasure is our heart is also (Matthew 6:21). He desperately hopes that we know that the earth we live in isn’t our forever home, and that part of what we deeply need is to move our focus to the eternal world and life we will have while we still dwell in this one. So what we really need is to humbly have the Holy Spirit search our hearts and shine light where we are holding onto selfish expectations of God’s provision.
Oooph!
Not always the most pleasant experience being shown the selfishness of our own hearts! I sure hate it. But I definitely need it! 😅 Luckily, we have a good and gracious Father! And here are more reasons why He absolutely loves and delights in providing for what we truly need!
Why God Will Always Provide
Have you ever watched Finding Nemo?
If you haven’t, you my friend, have been living under a rock!
But the reason I love Finding Nemo is that it is a movie about a disobedient son who wanders off and gets lost. But through the stormy trenches and dangers of the sea, Nemo’s father never ceases to go out of his way to find him and bring him home.
If a cartoon fish can be portrayed as a good and loving father, how much greater and more perfect can our Heavenly Father must be!
And with hundreds Bible verses on how our Heavenly Father will provide for His children, we are reminded again and again that we are not children that are left alone to fend for ourselves! We are children who have a good who will meet all of our needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
Now what other reasons do we have to be fully assured that the Lord will provide for us?
#1 The Lord Provides Because He is a Father who Loves to Give Good Gifts ☺️
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! — Matthew 7:11
You can trust that God will provide all your needs because He is a Father who loves to give good gifts! After all, if the Lord provides even for the birds of the air, for they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet they are fed by Him, are we not much more precious to Him than they are? (Matthew 6:26).
Wow.
Sometimes I totally forget that He is a Father who delights in giving me good gifts. So there is nothing for me to be anxious about in life. There is nothing that I have to worry about because I have the greatest provider looking out for me. I am freed to go about my life dancing along the sidewalk, singing at the top of my voice and joyfully taking in the beauty the world has to offer around me!
#2 The Lord Will Provide Because He’s Already Given You the Greatest Provision ⭐️
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. — 1 John 4:9
It’s so ingrained in our human nature to be looking for the next best thing. Do you remember what it is like to get a nice pair of shoes, then want a great haircut soon after? We are always wanting more. And I totally understand you! I have been there too girlie!
I mean, how can any girl not want to get some new fairy lights to match her gorgeous new hanging plants in her room? 😉 How bizarre!
But when we think this way, we often forget how God has already provided us with the greatest provision… and we are not left wanting for more. When God has given His one and only Son Jesus Christ into the world so that we might have eternal life, why do we think that He will not be able to provide us with things that give us no eternal value? And on a similar note, why do we place so much value on such things?
#3 God Provides Everything We Need Because He Never Fails to Keep His Word 💕
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? — Numbers 23:19
I love the fact that our God does not change. He is the same today as He was yesterday. With such a God, we never have to worry about the security of our salvation and His love for us. We can rest in full assurance that He cares just as deeply about us today as He did yesterday, and that He will tomorrow! And for those of us who have experienced what insecurity feels like, we know how heartbreakingly terrifying it can be to be in a situation where we have every reason to doubt the other person. But our Father who provides for all of our needs has never ever given us any reason to doubt because all that He promises, He always fulfils.

How God Will Provide All of Your Needs + Bible Verses & Scriptures
God provides everything we need to develop a close, intimate relationship with Him so that we can lead ourselves and others into a quality of life that reflects Psalm 23. Everyone’s whose shepherd is the Lord will say, “I lack nothing”.
I want you to look outside for a moment.
Often, we take for granted the raindrops on the grass, the shining light of the early morning sun, the crisp breeze of the winds and the rippling waves of the blue-green seas.
God provides for us in so many ways that are so understated, yet if we were to go without them, we would surely notice. How blessed we are that we have a Father that loves us enough to take care of every single little detail and never spares us from his generous nature!
I could not possibly come up with a list that could even come close to adequately describing God’s provision, but here are six ways to show you how God provides everything we need… always!
#1 God will Provide All Your Physical Needs
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. — Matthew 6:31-32
Isn’t it so beautiful that our God knows exactly what we need so we don’t have to worry?
Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? — Luke 12:24-26
How comforting it is that our God provides for the least of His creation! Because how much more are we to our God than the birds!
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. — Psalm 23:2
See this Psalm 23 bible study for an in-depth look into this Psalm!
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” — Matthew 11:29-30
Sometimes what goes on in our lives can get overwhelming, but the sweet news is that we are never called to go through a hard season of our lives all by ourselves. He is right there with us and wants us to give him our burdens!
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. — Exodus 20:8-11
God not only promises rest, but He commands it as well! His commandments of rest is designed to provide us with it!
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. — 1 John 1:9
If you are afraid of not being good enough for God, you have nothing to fear:) Because of how faithful and good our God is, His grace extends out to you. He loves you and deeply desires for you to come to Him and receive His gift of grace so that you can be redeemed.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. — Ephesians 1:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:7
Sometimes our thoughts and anxiety of whatever situation we are in overwhelms us. But God promises that when we pray to Him and earnestly seek His peace, He will protect us.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33
The Christian walk was never meant to be easy. In fact, it will be fraught with difficulties. But we can take heart because victory is already ours… for our God has already overcome the world! Whooo!
he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. —Psalm 23:3
Please note that with healing, this does not mean that God will most certainly heal physical conditions. But God does promise that He will provide us with spiritual healing. Our spiritual wellbeing is infinitely more precious than our earthly health. For like Jesus told the physically impaired man that He healed, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” (John 5).

Before you go, have you heard of Dwell?
Dwell helps to engage its listeners by dramatizing the Word of God and adding unique, ambient music. This special Bible app also allows it’s listeners to choose between a range of different unique voices (including both male and female voices). However, the thing about this Bible app is that it is not free.
If you don’t know if the style of Dwell is for you (because the dramatization of His Word just might not be your style), then you can definitely just opt for a free 7-day trial to see if you like it before committing to the $39.99 annual payment (which to be honest, is nowhere as bad as a Netflix or Spotify subscription).
