This is on point. Thanks for sharing!!!

  3. You’re so right! Thank you for sharing this post

  4. Hannah says:

Beautifully written. Thanks for this reminder, as Christians we are not immune to getting negative thoughts as a matter of fact I had some weird thoughts running through my mind yesterday. Thanks for sharing this beautiful points and for reassuring us that we are already victorious in Christ Jesus.

    • Michelle Ling says:

Thank you Hannah ☺️ you are definitely made victorious and strong through the power of Christ! x Praying for you!

  5. Teresa says:

We do have to be so intentional with How to Overcome Negative Thoughts and Capture Them Captive! It takes practice and consistency. I have found many of the verses you offered in your article as a key method for helping me overcome negative thoughts!

    • Michelle Ling says:

Hahahahaha that is so awesome Teresa! I’m so glad that the verses in the Bible are so universal and that other girls also find such anchoring truth and comfort in them! x

  6. Collene says:

Beautifully written and inspiring post! This is an area of struggle for me. I have been trying to speak affirmations when I look at myself in the mirror. Reminding myself that I am God’s child and He is pleased with me. 😊

    • Michelle Ling says:

That’s so awesome to hear that you’ve been trying to be so intentional with seeking God during those moments your thoughts try to take root in you! You are so loved and so seen in His eyes! x

  7. Rachel Mayew says:

Thanks for sharing these tried and true, practical tips On how to overcome negative thoughts as a Christian. I especially love how are you suggest using scripture. I love using verses as prayer and affirmations. It’s been incredibly powerful and equipping me to thoughts captive!

  8. Summer says:

I think #2 is so key! We’re living in such oppressive times and if we’re not intimately knowing the Word of God our focus will always be off-center. We’ve been trying to help our kids with this, which is pretty much what discipling is all about, ha!

    • Michelle Ling says:

Thanks Summer! Hahaha I love that you have been trying to help your kids with this! It’s amazing that you are starting to help them while they are so young! x

  9. Michelle,
Negative thoughts are so powerful and can really derail the work God has for us. Thanks for sharing such truth to help us stay focused on Jesus!

  10. Brandi says:

Michelle, these are great ways to take our thoughts captive. Satan wants nothing more than to plant lies and false things appearing real, into our mind. I love suggestion #4 to bring our thoughts to the cross. There is not better place we could go.

  11. DONNA MILLER says:

This is so good Michelle! God has really helped me with my words by teaching me to capture my thoughts and guard my heart. When I didn’t let Him work on my thoughts and my heart, it was like a constant battle to put a gate over my words.

    • Michelle Ling says:

I definitely relate Donna! He is the best goalie for stopping any negative thoughts from taking our minds captive! x

  12. Elizabeth says:

Great message on our thoughts. We need to watch our thoughts. Thank you for a great message

  13. Jessie says:

Oh this spoke to me on so many levels! I love how you use God’s Word to replace lies I have grown to believe about myself!

  14. Boma says:

This is so encouraging, Michelle! It all begins and mostly happens in the mind. Whatever victories we’re seeking, we must first claim in our minds, for as the Scripture says, as a man thinks, so is he.
And Amen to your prayer at the end of the post. Thanks for sharing. Many blessings to you!

    • Michelle Ling says:

Thanks Boma! It’s always so good to look to the cross and remember that He died to win a battle! x

  15. Kayla Clyde says:

What a great post! I love how focused you are on the Bible and letting God shape our thoughts instead of our own feelings and the world.

  16. I loved this!! Thank you so much for the tips on how to readjust my thinking 🙂

  17. Karen says:

It is so easy to allow the negative thoughts to roam free in our minds! Taking them captive and countering them with Bible promises is such a powerful way to overcome negative thoughts and capture them.

    • Michelle Ling says:

It really is, isn’t it?! But I’m so glad that He sent His Word down for us so that we can always remember who He is in the moments that we keep forgetting! x

  18. This is excellent! This topic is near and dear to my hearts as well and I talk a lot about on my blog. It’s so hard as women because we tend to compare ourselves and feel less-than. But God is the one who should tell us who we are. Thanks for posting!

  19. Amber Kay says:

Ah….those ever intrusive thoughts! I’m so thankful to be up at this hour and to be blessed by this reminder. I struggle with my thought life, some thoughts that don’t even make any sense! I feel like I here lately I just leave the door wide open for them…even to the point of setting up a camp tent next to them and even lighting a campfire to roast marshmallows with them. I truly needed to read your blog. I decide today, to bind up those thoughts and lay them at Jesus’ feet. I am who God says I am! God bless you!!! Thank you so much!!!

    • Michelle Ling says:

No worries Amber! I loved what you said about even lighting a campfire to roast marshmallows with them — it truly made me laugh so hard! You are so loved, and so beautiful! x

  20. […] Michelle from Truthfully Michelle says “I think Jesus and Moses knew what they were doing when they removed themselves from the business of life and people to just go spend time with the Lord. I definitely find spending a couple of days solely dedicated to speaking to Godly friends, reading the Bible and in prayer to be so helpful to my positivity when I am feeling lost, lonely or confused. And removing yourself from that negative environment or situation can allow you to see God’s light on …  […]

  21. Carla Gasser says:

Such a thoughtful post filled with practical wisdom and guidance. I have learned that hiding God’s truth in my heart is the most effective way to take every thought captive.

  22. pransenn says:

THIS CAME AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE😭 And this is all so true! It is incredibly important to remind ourselves of the gospel everyday cuz it’s so easy to worry and condemn ourselves! There’s this show called the Chosen (a show about Jesus) and in one of the episodes Philip says to Matthew “there’s nowhere you can go, no height in your intellectual mind, no depth you can reach in your soul where God is not with you.” it gives great comfort😊
