Having daily quiet time with God is something we can all agree with is super important for our spiritual health as well as our relationship with Him. It is the time where we can truly connect with God without any distractions. It is when we can spend time getting to know Him on an intimate level, because without spending a lot of one-on-one time with someone, how can we ever get to really know them? However, actively having daily quiet time with God takes discipline to make it a priority and a habit. It might take sacrifice but spending quiet time with God is worth it.
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither —whatever they do prospers.” — Psalm 1:1-3

We all go through seasons where we are super focused and can’t wait to have our quiet time and seasons where life throws us curve balls and we barely have 5 minutes to spare. But what about the seasons where you just don’t feel like it or don’t have any motivation? That’s what I would love to address.
If you are in that difficult season of life right now, don’t beat yourself up. Give yourself some grace. I’ve been there as well as others. Quiet time looks different for everyone. Before I dig into ways I motivate myself when I don’t feel like it, I’d love to share what daily quiet time with God is or might look like.
Quiet time looks different for everyone and there is no right or wrong way to have a quiet time.
The Definition of ‘Quiet Time’ with God
When I think of daily quiet time with God my mind immediately goes to all the pretty instagram posts I see. Coffee, a cozy blanket, Bible, journal, and cute colored pens with soft worship music playing in the background. I think everything has to be perfect. While that would be nice reality is probably opposite of that.
Quiet time is just a label. Truth is what quiet time looks like is time you take out of your day to spend with Jesus. Whether it’s through worship music, prayer, reading the Bible, or just journaling. As long as you are talking and spending time with the Father you are having a quiet time. It doesn’t have to be 30 minutes a day. It can be 10 minutes here or there throughout the day.
I’m going to be completely honest with you. My quiet time is spread out over the day. I don’t do it all at once. Especially on days when I don’t really feel like it. At first I thought something was wrong with me. But through talking with my mentor and friends I realized that we all go through these seasons of not feeling like it.
Here are 5 creative daily quiet time ideas with God that I have found helpful.

5 Creative Daily Quiet Time Ideas with God for the Girl Who Struggles to Keep Still
#1 Creative Daily Quiet Time Ideas with God: Post it Notes
Okay now I know you probably are thinking what do post it notes have to do with quiet time. I’m obsessed with them and use them all the time. When I don’t feel like it I will take a post it note and write down either a verse or a lyric to a song or even a short prayer. You can get very creative with them. It’s just a good way to have reminders of what God has done, is doing, and will do for you. Put them in your Bible, on your wall, on the bathroom mirror, or even in your car.
#2 Creative Daily Quiet Time Ideas with God: Worship Music
One thing that helps me when I don’t feel like it is music. Worship music helps put me in the mood. There is something about listening to worship music and singing that connects me to God. When I don’t feel like it, I turn on some music. Some days listening to worship music is all I do for my quiet time. Just spending time listening to the lyrics can change my mood.
#3 Creative Daily Quiet Time Ideas with God: Be Still and Quiet
This one might seem really weird but sometimes when I don’t feel like it I just sit and be quiet and still. I close my eyes and just ask Jesus to come meet me right where I am at. Just start praying and then just sit and listen for God to speak to you. I usually have worship music playing softly in the background.

#4 Creative Daily Quiet Time Ideas with God: Opening that Bible App
This might be one of the easiest things you can do. Open the Bible app and just read the verse of the day. It’s simple and doesn’t take too much time. I use a Bible app everyday. It’s so convenient and simple to use. They also have a bunch of different devotionals you can choose from. You can even have it set reminders for you to be notified to read the devotions.
One of my recent favorites is Dwell.
Dwell helps to engage its listeners by dramatizing the Word of God and adding unique, ambient music. This Bible app also allows it’s listeners to choose between a range of different unique voices (including both male and female voices). However, the thing about this Bible app is that it is not free.
If you don’t know if the style of Dwell is for you (because the dramatization of His Word just might not be your style), then you can definitely just opt for a free 7-day trial to see if you like it before committing to the $39.99 annual payment (which to be honest, is nowhere as bad as a Netflix or Spotify subscription).
If you would like to give this app a go, then download it here or click the image below…

#5 Creative Daily Quiet Time Ideas with God: Journaling your Soul Out
Journaling for me comes easy but that might be because I am a writer. However, I encourage you on days when you don’t feel like it to just start writing and journaling why. Just write whatever comes to your mind. Brain dump it as we writers call it. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It can be messy and doesn’t have to make sense but just write what you are feeling. If you don’t know where to start you can just write something you are thankful for or something God is teaching you.
Sometimes getting into a prayer routine can be hard. Work gets in the way. School gets in the way. Kids get in the way. LIFE gets in the way. That is exactly why sometimes staying practical and creating new systems to keep you on track can help with a well-disciplined prayer life. This is where the Daily Prayer Journal printable comes in handy. Deepen your relationship with God through regular prayer by making use of the practical accountability of a prayer journal.

Spending Time with Him is an Open Invitation
I pray these creative daily quiet time ideas with God are helpful for you.
Just remember that spending time with God shouldn’t be a chore but an invitation. He wants you! All of you!
Personally, I live by the quote “when you don’t feel like it is when you need it the most.” I can’t tell you how many times that I didn’t feel like going to church or reading my Bible but still did and it was just what I needed to hear. I remember one time in particular that I was having a really rough day and didn’t really feel like going to church but I knew that I needed to. The sermon was on the exact thing that I needed to hear.
I want to leave you with this. Know that I am praying for you. I pray that God speaks to your heart and helps you through the seasons of not feeling like it. Helps you spend time with Him. I pray that on days when you don’t have any motivation that He gives you the strength and desire to read the Bible or pray.
Remember you aren’t alone. We have all been there. I promise you that it’s worth it when you choose to spend daily quiet time with God. He can definitely change your mood and it makes all the difference to your day.
