Hey sis! Are you looking for the BEST Bible app for women? Here are a list of 8 of the best Bible apps available and women’s devotional apps that you are bound to love!
Let’s be honest. We probably spend about a couple hours a day (easy!) on our phones alone. Whether it is Instagram, Pinterest, FaceBook, Snapchat, YouTube, Netflix or Candy Crush, we are a generation of technology-junkies! I know for one that I can spend hours googling anything and everything!
But instead of letting our smartphones run our lives and letting ourselves get more and more consumed by the endless distractions it provides us, why don’t we both try to turn what would prevent us from spending time in the Word into a resource for us to actually dive deeper into Scripture?
So the next time you pick up your phone when you wake up in the morning, I challenge you to replace checking FaceBook/Instagram with one or two of the best Bible study apps for women! How good will it be to make it that much more likely to spend solid time in the Word on a daily basis?
But of course, that leads us to the topic of today’s blog post… “what exactly are the best Bible study apps for women?”
Because it definitely doesn’t help you to desire to spend more time in the Word if you download an app with a clunky interface that freezes up every 10 seconds!
So, to help you out today, here are what I think are the 8 BEST Bible study apps for women — and the 3 BEST women’s devotional apps! Best of all? They are all FREE.
You’re welcome! ☺️

6 Best Bible Apps for Women
#1 Best Bible App for Women: YouVersion (The Bible App)
5 ⭐ | 6.2 Million Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
Okay, so YouVersion is definitely known as the Bible app. Being super popular, it is highly likely you probably heard of it. And I for one, love to use it! I use it pretty much every single day to dive deep into scripture and I love going through the various books of the Bible using this easy-to-navigate Bible app!
The really cool thing about YouVersion is that they offer a ton of various devotionals as well. So not only do you get to dive into the Word of God, but there are plenty of great Bible reading plans and devotionals that you can get stuck into! (However being sure to select a good devotional takes discernment of course!)
I really enjoy being able to add bookmarks or highlights to any Bible verse in the app and have a range of different translations at my fingertips to see how another translation interprets the same passage. I personally always look between the NIV, ESV and KJV translations to help me better understand the text.
And for those of you with a creative streak, you will LOVE the fact that you are actually able to create and share custom-made Bible verse images from within the app! So if you want to make a wallpaper for your phone with your latest favourite Bible verse you can totally do that!
Another cool feature YouVersion offers includes an audio reading of the Bible. I personally am a terrible audio listener (I much prefer reading or having slides to go alongside audio), so I haven’t tapped into this feature of the app as much! However, for those of you who want to be able to listen to the Bible while on the go, this might be perfect for your needs!
What I really love is the social aspect of this app. You can actually start reading Bible reading plans together with your friends who also have the app! A Bible reading challenge for your next social night? Oh yes please! Not to mention, I love the little ‘verses of the day’ that YouVersion sends to my notifications every single day. It not only encourages me, but reminds me to tap into the Word if I hadn’t already!
So, for the girl who is looking for a Bible app/women’s devotional app, then YouVersion is my #1 recommendation for any young woman who wants to spend time in the Word and walk with Him each day.
If you don’t have this Bible app for women yet, you can download the YouVersion App here: iOS | Google Play
#2 Best Bible App for Women: Bible Gateway
4.4 ⭐️ | 5000+ Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that I use Bible Gateway A LOT when it comes to referencing Bible verses! So I am so pleased to let you know that Bible Gateway offers a free Bible app for women as well — and its a pretty cool one!
It is absolutely excellent for anyone who wants to really swiftly search up different Bible verses in any translation. It offers >90 different Bible translations, >20 audio Bibles, and a range of different Bible commentaries and other references such as the Matthew Henry commentaries and the Reformation Study Bible.
Asides from these really cool features, some other awesome features that the Bible Gateway app offers include multiple Bible reading plans for their readers to go through and they offer highlighting and note-taking features as well.
If you want to download the Bible Gateway App, it is available on both the App Store and the Google Play Store.

#3 Best Bible App for Women: Blue Letter Bible
5 ⭐️ | 182K Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
If you’re looking to study the Bible more in-depth and want to go beyond simply reading the Bible and actually begin studying the Word more, the Blue Letter Bible App is an excellent place to start!
The Blue Letter Bible is a great Bible app for women because it offers a wide range of Bible translations (including audio), thousands of different commentaries and multiple Bible dictionaries.
One of the best things about this Bible study app is that you can compare different versions/translations of the Bible side-by-side and begin cross checking Bible references. Being able to have multiple translations pulled up side by side is just so incredibly helpful in my opinion. So this is definitely one of the key selling points for this Bible study app!
PLUS one of the other really cool features of the Blue Letter Bible is that you have access to a wide range of conservative commentaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias and concordances. So if you want to really study a particular verse or passage more deeply, you can simply tap on the verse and select options that will allow you to explore the original Hebrew or Greek language.
And on top of this, similarly to the other Bible study apps, you can highlight, take notes and save your fav Bible verses. But the coolest part of the organising process? You can save your favourite verses into custom folders making it so much easier to find later!
If you feel like you’re in the mood to try out a more difficult Bible study app to really challenge your everyday Bible reading, the Blue Letter Bible might be the one for you! Download the app on iOS or Google Play.
#4 Best Bible App for Women: Bible App by Olive Tree
4.8 ⭐️ | 167K Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
This is an app that I really love… most likely because of how beautiful it is! Not only is it clean, easy to use and super pretty, but I just love the fact that you don’t have to use WiFi in order to access this. Even if you were dropped in the middle of the desert or lost in the middle of a forest, you will STILL be able to have the Word of God on you! Until the battery of your phone dies of course!
The only thing is that this app has both free and paid features. While the NIV, ESV, KJV and NKJV (plus a few others) come along with the free version, there are other translations of the Bible that you can purchase if you’d like!
In addition, there are Bible reading plans that Olive Tree offers so that you will be able to follow a day by day guideline to help you get into a regular swing of things. And similarly to the other Bible study apps mentioned already, you have the super useful features such as being able to highlight and take notes as you do your daily Bible study!
So, if you are looking for a Bible study app that you just love going back to because of how easy to use and how clean and pretty it all looks, then this is definitely a Bible study app that you should be trying out! Download the app on iOS or Google Play.
#5 Best Bible App for Women. Logos Bible Study Tools
4.8 ⭐ | 67,000+ Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
This Bible study app I am about to share is for the Christian woman who really desires to dive deeper into God’s Word.
The Logos Bible Study Tools app allows you to have access to the entirety of the Bible and you are able to highlight your favourite verses, take notes while you read, select a reading plan and read through commentaries while doing your day-to-day Bible study. And did I mention that this is all free??? But, there are a few paid options if you’d like to dive deeper into your daily study (although I have not personally purchased any of them).
What is super cool about this app though is that you can do tabbed browsing AND split-screen reading, so you can easily open as many resources as you’d like side by side for comparison. So, if you are reading a particular passage, you have the option of looking up it’s Greek and Hebrew meanings and access various topical, exegetical, text comparisons and Bible study guides at the same time! There are so many options when it comes to the number of dictionaries that they offer, cross references and lexicons!
So this Bible study app is so much more than just a Bible app. This app will provide you with a lot of resources to help you really dive deeper into all the nuances of Scripture so that you will be able to have a fuller and more accurate understanding of the Biblical text.
If diving deeper into Scripture and really getting into the nitty gritty of the context of Bible passages sound like it is something you would like to get into, then download this app on iOS or Google Play.
#6 Best Bible App for Women: Dwell (Audio Bible)
4.9⭐ | 19,000+ Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
While I had never heard of Dwell until researching for some audio Bible options, this is a highly recommended audio Bible app that is perfect for Christian women who love to learn God’s Word by listening to it.
While Scripture readings is predominantly in ESV (and a few options for NIV and KJV and the Message — however, I do not recommend the Message as it deviates from the original Scriptures too much), there may be other translations added to it in the future when the customer base and demands for other translations increases.
Dwell helps to engage its listeners by dramatizing the Word of God and adding unique, ambient music. This Bible app also allows it’s listeners to choose between a range of different unique voices (including both male and female voices). However, the thing about this Bible app is that it is not free.
If you don’t know if the style of Dwell is for you (because the dramatization of His Word just might not be your style), then you can definitely just opt for a free 7-day trial to see if you like it before committing to the $39.99 annual payment (which to be honest, is nowhere as bad as a Netflix or Spotify subscription).
If you would like to give this app a go, then download it here or click the image below…

Best Bible Devotional Apps For Christian Women
Most of the other apps previously mentioned include guided devotions or topical studies, but these next two daily devotional apps I’m about to share were designed and created exclusively for women.
#1 Best Women’s Devotional App: Daily Grace
4.4 ⭐️ | 88 Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
Perhaps you’ve heard of The Daily Grace Co. If you have, then what you might not know is that they have a women’s devotional app designed to allow you to go through devotions each and every day.
If you’ve been keeping up with this blog for a while, you’ll know how much I love pretty graphics… which can only serve to explain my love for graphic and web design (my whole site was crafted lovingly by me).
While the app is free, most of the studies within the app itself is not. However, one of the really cool things about The Daily Grace Co. is that they offer sales on a fairly regular basis! So, if you’d like to try them out, then sign up for their email list and they’ll alert you every single time their products go on sale… isn’t that awesome?
Now another really cool feature about this app is that they offer a social aspect to it too! So you have the option of joining a community of other women who want to dive deep into the world and be in fellowship with them via sharing and posting on different ‘walls’.
These ‘walls’ include your own personal wall, categories such as discipleship, encouragement, Christian living, anxiety and so much more. So you can spend time chatting with other women who might be going through the same thing as you!
#2 Best Women’s Devotional App: Solid Joys (Desiring God’s John Piper Daily Devotionals)
4.3 ⭐️ | 91 Reviews (as of Jan 2021)
If you’ve ever heard of Desiring God Ministries, then you would most likely have heard of John Piper. Well, Solid Joy is a daily devotional app from the ministry of John Piper. Each and every day, you will receive short but really substantive readings that “aim to feed your joy in Jesus every day of the year”.
This is an excellent resource in many ways. But one of the cool things about this particular devotional app is that you can search up devotions based on particular Scripture passages in the Bible. So if you for example, you want to know more about a particular Bible verse, simply search it up and with the wealth of devotionals available, you will most likely be able to find one that speaks on what you’d like to learn more about!
Other awesome features about this devotional app include being able to star devotionals so that you can add them to your favourites list (and come back to them later!), swiping to view devotionals for other days, turning on daily reminders to read, searching up devotionals, adjusting font size AND this app is available in both English and Korean!
If you’d like to try out this women’s devotional app, then you can check it out here on the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store.
