I’ve been writing behind the screen on this blog for almost a year and a half now, and in that time, I don’t really think I have ever taken the time to properly introduce myself. Sure, if you’re one of my regular readers (hello, and thank you!) you will have some kind of an idea 😉, but perhaps not really a clear one? Personally, I love getting to know the people who write the things that I read about… so what possibly makes you any different from me? 💛

So I kind of wanted to do a fun, slightly more personal than usual post… just because it can be kind of nice to break up the usual rhythm of theological posts. ✨ So here are 30 pretty random but light-hearted facts about me. I’ve never been somebody who was super good at coming with random facts about me, so this was actually pretty challenging! But here is what I managed to come up with… I’d love to know if you relate to anything I said! 💛

30 Random & Quirky Facts About Me | The Girl Behind the Screen

Random Fact #1: I Was Named after a Beatles Song

Don’t wear it out! ☺️ Named after the Beatle’s song “Michelle”. My dad used to sing it to me to wake me up in the mornings before school. How CUTE is that?? 💕

Random Fact #2: Four and Twenty is My Age

Just a year away from a quarter of a century! 😳

Random Fact #3: I Live Down Under in a Small Nation Called New Zealand

I challenge you to find it on the map… we are a magical country that sometimes don’t exist on maps 😉 And no, we are not part of Australia 😂

Random Fact #4: I’m the Youngest of Two

Huge age gap. We both grew up almost like only children. Explains why my imagination was my favourite play buddy growing up.

Random Fact #5: I Currently Have Three Adorable Nephews with a Little Niece Along the Way

They’re super cute… the two oldest have dark blonde hair, blue eyes, beautiful long eyelashes and one the youngest has brown hair, brown eyes and a cheeky-as smile. The baby girl is due in May!

Random Fact #6: I’ve Been Some Online Bible College Classes

And I love sharing what I have been learning 💛

Random Fact #7: I Can Be a Little Bit of a Scatterbrain

You’re looking at the girl who once put her toothpaste in the fridge by mistake. 🥸

Random Fact #8: My Favourite Secret Santa Gift was a Pet Goldfish

I was fourteen years old when my form class decided to do secret santa. My gift from my secret santa was a goldfish in a plastic bag filled with water. Needless to say, I was stoked! 💛

Random Fact #9: I Love Making My Own Notebooks

I love handcrafting my own notebooks. It is a ton of fun! I particularly love looking at Sea Lemon’s videos on different ways to stitch your own notebook!

Random Fact #10: Places to Visit on My Bucketlist Include…

The Greek Islands and Switzerland (again!). Oh and going to Antarctica to visit the penguins would be pretty cool too!

Random Fact #11: I’ve Been Doing Web and Graphic Design Since I was 14

I love graphic and web design! It’s been a self-taught hobby for as long as I have been in the ‘online’ world ☺️ I love being able to express my personality through colours, shapes and fonts… which you can see through Truthfully, Michelle (which I had so much fun custom designing and branding).

Random Fact #12: I Paid My Student Debt By Taking Up Freelance Writing Gigs Throughout High School and University

Went the alternative route and instead of a waitressing job or retail job, opted to sell my services as a freelance writer for five years 💕 It was so much fun!

Seriously how cute is she?? 🌻 And oh my heart… Pascal is adorable! Honestly… who can forget that awesome frying pan?

Random Fact #18: I’ve Served with Youth, Young Adults, Kids and the Music Team… But Am Currently Taking a Break

Currently taking a break from serving to focus on my relationship with God outside the context of serving. It’s been a really good season of rest for me!

Random Fact #19: Tears Come Naturally to Me

I can’t help but cry over the smallest things. Sad movies, songs and stories? 😭 Give me a bucket because my tears can’t help but start falling!

Random Fact #20: I Oddly Like it Cold More than I Like it Hot

This might be a super unpopular opinion, but I much prefer a cooler day than a blazing hot one! Can’t help but end up feeling super sleepy on a hot summer’s day! I love those fall months so much more 🍂🍁

Random Fact #21: I Love Asking People Questions

Probably one of my most defining features… and my favourite conversation tactic is to ask people questions. Because people are INTERESTING. 😉

Random Fact #22: I’m a Dentist with a Sweet Tooth

Shhhhh. But don’t tell my boss! Or my patients for that matter hehe.

Random Fact #23: Floating Wall Shelves, Hanging Plants and Fairy Lights are My Kind of Thing

I get made fun of A LOT for how much joy these things give me.

Random Fact #24: Sometimes I Really Relate to Rachel Chu From Crazy Rich Asians

Because being an Asian raised in a Western environment really makes you not Asian enough to be Asian and not Western enough to be Western. I’m just a mish mash of both cultures haha 😅

Random Fact #25: I Drink Tea with Milk at Least Twice a Day

No sugar. Because sugar is bad for you 😉 but see #22 if you skipped that one!

Random Fact #26: Pluots are My Absolute Favourite Fruit

Pluots are a hybrid between a plum and an apricot. I remember eating a TON of them five summers ago and ever since then I have not been able to forget them… I haven’t seen them in the supermarket since the summer of 2015!

Random Fact #27: My Biggest Hope for this Blog is to Remain True to Scripture… so I Often Go Back Through My Old Blog Posts to Edit Them Accordingly

You might not know this… but I take what is written on this blog SUPER seriously. I know I can’t be perfect, but I want to follow the Holy Spirit’s convictions and remain as true to Scripture as possible. So if there is something that you disagree with on this blog, reach out to me… I’d be happy to hear you out and look into it more.

Random Fact #28: I Regularly Swap My Favourite Books of the Bible… I Currently Love 1 and 2 Peter <3

How GOOD is 1 and 2 Peter?? It’s so full of really practical and convicting insights into the Christian faith and lifestyle. I really recommend that you have a read!

Random Fact #29: My Perfect Job Would Be a Beautiful Blend of Creativity, People and Jesus.

What would your perfect job be??

Random Fact #30: My Dream House is Two Storeys, Made of White Wood, Has a Porch Swing and a Sweet Picket Fence

The last of the random facts about me? This dream house was something I’ve always imagined since I was just 8 years old. Think Anne of Green Gables might have had a little something to do with it!
